Every year, Livability evaluates cities across the country to identify the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America. The rankings focus on towns with populations between 75,000 and 500,000 and weigh nearly 100 data points, including affordability, amenities, culture, and quality of life. This year, St. Pete earned a spot among the top 25 destinations in the Southeast, standing out for its blend of natural beauty, community spirit, and innovative growth.
How did St. Pete impress Livability? For starters, the city enjoys an average of 361 days of sunshine each year and even holds a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive sunny days—an incredible 768-day stretch that began in 1967.
Thousands of events to enjoy in the Sunshine City
Residents and visitors alike enjoy more than 1,000 annual events and festivals, from bustling farmers markets and yachting showcases to Florida’s largest Pride celebration and the city’s long-running parade honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. Pete also continues to make inclusivity a priority, scoring a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Municipal Equality Index.
St. Pete’s arts scene has long been one of its defining features. From the world-renowned Salvador Dalí Museum to the Museum of Fine Arts and the monthly Second Saturday ArtWalk, the city has established itself as a creative hub. Local murals, galleries, and public installations continue to attract national attention, making St. Pete a top destination for art lovers.

Recreation is another area where St. Pete excels.
