Family-Friendly Weekend Events in St. Pete-Clearwater | September 4–6
September is officially here, and Tampa Bay is kicking it off with a packed weekend of family fun. From toddler art dates and sensory-friendly museum mornings to baseball, soccer, rodeo action, ice cream, and a completely FREE family day at the Tampa Museum of Art, there’s plenty to fill your long weekend.

James Playdate: Patterned Pals

Where: The James Museum, Downtown St. Petersburg
Bring your tiniest art lovers downtown for a museum morning created specifically for little ones and their grown-ups. Designed for ages 0–3, James Playdates combine art, touchable objects, stories and songs for an easy introduction to the museum experience.
Green Bench Brewing Co. x Chill Bros Ice Cream
What: Green Bench Brewing Co. x Chill Bros Ice Cream
When: Friday, September 4, 6–10pm
Where: Green Bench Brewing Co., 1133 Baum Ave. N, St. Petersburg
Beer for the grown-ups and ice cream for the kids? Sounds like a pretty solid way to kick off the weekend. Chill Bros’ Bro-Mobile is popping up at Green Bench for an evening of locally made scoops, craft beer and hanging out in Green Bench’s spacious beer garden.
Tampa Bay Rodeo & Family Festival
What: Tampa Bay Rodeo & Family Festival
When: Friday, September 4 & Saturday, September 5; gates open 4:30pm, rodeo 7:30pm
Where: Hillsborough County Fairgrounds, Dover
Saddle up for two nights of bull riding, bronco busting, barrel racing and more. Arrive early for the Family Festival featuring food, live music, a mechanical bull, giant inflatable slide and activities before the rodeo action gets underway.

Get Fit St. Pete: Yoga in the Park
What: FREE Yoga in the Park
When: Saturday, September 5, 8–9am
Where: Crescent Lake Park, St. Petersburg
Start Saturday with some fresh air and movement at this free, all-levels yoga class overlooking Crescent Lake. Bring a mat, water and the kids for an easy way to get outside before the Florida heat really kicks in.
Sensory Saturday at the MFA
What: Sensory Saturday: Hands-On with Curious Creations Co.
When: Saturday, September 5, 10am–12pm
Where: Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg
Families with sensory sensitivities can explore the MFA with rotating audio components turned down or muted for a calmer museum experience. This month also includes optional hands-on sensory art activities inspired by New African Masquerades, geared primarily toward ages 2–10; registration for the hands-on program is $5 per person.
Storytime with Ms. Megan

Grab your littlest bookworms and cozy up for stories at one of St. Pete’s sweetest spots for young readers. Stick around afterward to browse the books and let everyone choose a new favorite for home.
Children’s Board Free Family Day: Once Upon a Time
What: Children’s Board Free Family Day: Once Upon a Time

Where: Tampa Museum of Art, 120 W Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa
Cost: FREE
Once upon a time there was a completely free day at the art museum! Families can explore storytelling through ancient, modern and contemporary art, make their own art, explore the galleries and visit the Teen Digital Lounge, where teens can create digital art on iPads.
Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Brooklyn FC
What: Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Brooklyn FC – Community Heroes Night
When: Saturday, September 5, 7:30pm
Where: Al Lang Stadium, Downtown St. Petersburg
Spend Saturday night cheering on the Rowdies from one of the coolest waterfront stadiums around. The Rowdies take on Brooklyn FC for Community Heroes Night, making this an energetic family night out right in the heart of downtown St. Pete.

Pollinator Pop Up at Weedon Island Preserve

Where: Weedon Island Preserve, St. Petersburg
Cost: FREE
Buzz on over to Weedon Island for a hands-on afternoon all about our tiny but mighty pollinators! Kids can step inside the Cultural and Natural History Center for interactive activities that explore the life of a pollinator, then make a day of it by exploring the preserve’s boardwalks, trails and observation tower.

Labor Day Weekend at FloridaRAMA

Step out of the heat and into the wonderfully weird world of FloridaRAMA for an immersive art adventure the whole family can explore together. Wander through colorful installations, discover hidden details and make a game out of finding something new in every room.
Clearwater Threshers Final Weekend
What: Clearwater Threshers Baseball
When: Friday, September 4–Sunday, September 6
Where: BayCare Ballpark, Clearwater
Take the kids out to the ballgame for the final weekend of the Threshers’ season. It’s an easy family outing for baseball, ballpark snacks and one more dose of summer fun before the season wraps.
John’s Pass Breakfast Club
What: John’s Pass Breakfast Club
When: Saturday & Sunday, 8am departure
Where: Hubbard’s Marina at John’s Pass, Madeira Beach
Breakfast with a side of dolphins? Hubbard’s Marina’s 90-minute morning cruise combines breakfast from Sculley’s with a cruise through the coastal waterways around Madeira Beach in search of wild bottlenose dolphins. The 8am departure is perfect for those early risers in your house and also means you’ll be back at John’s Pass with most of your day still ahead of you.
