Just in time for the summer glizzy season, Nah Dogs has opened a brick-and-mortar location in St. Pete. The popular, 100% vegan hot dog pop-up is now open every weekend at 18 22nd Street South, in a restaurant space that’s part of the complex also housing Black Crow Coffee and Tombolo Books.
Nah Dogs had soft openings the last two weekends and was met with immediate rave reviews, including by our I Love the Burg staff. The team behind the restaurant did a fantastic job decking out the new spot, which includes bar seating, booths and outdoor tables. The full menu includes a wide variety of their loaded vegan hot dogs, build-your-own options, walking bags of Fritos chili pie, chips, and an assortment of beer, wine and sodas.

Nah Dogs is still operating under its soft opening hours of 12-6 pm Thursday-Saturday, with plans to expand those house soon. It makes for an excellent lunch or afternoon snack if you’re hanging out in Grand Central. And if you need to walk off the post-feat lethargy, Tombolo is always right there for some rejuvenating book persual.
For those new to the Nah Dogs experience, and especially those who are weary about a meatless hot dog, I recommend approaching this like you would any hot dog spot. Three things about me: 1) I love hot dogs, 2) I am a daily meat-eater, 3) I love Nah Dogs. Don’t let the vegan qualifier scare you off if you’re used to Oscar Mayer.
Nah Dogs has long been a favorite of the entire I Love the Burg team, vegan and carnivore alike. Nah Dogs isn’t “good, for vegan food.” It’s good food that happens to also be vegan. They go all out with fun toppings, and they deliver on taste and quality every time. Toppings are always intriguing, with options varying from buffalo mac n cheeze, “bacon” strips, or fried onions, to macaroni salad, BBQ sauce, a full Chicago dog, and plenty more. From pretzel buns, poppyseed buns, and classic split buns, they even keep the bread interesting. The menu is trimmed down for the restaurant but we’d expect to see even more new offerings as they get into their stride.
Nah Dogs is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, offering a casual option to stick around and enjoy in the courtyard or take to-go on your way to or from any of the great cafes, bars or shops in the area. Even within their courtyard, it’s hard to imagine a better afternoon than a hot dog lunch at Nah Dogs and a caffeinated pick-me-up from Black Crow, followed by some satisfying browsing of the bookshelves at Tombolo. That’s a St. Pete trifecta if we ever heard one.
