St. Petersburg is about to become the unlikely host of what might be the most ambitiously, outrageously stacked comedy festival Florida has ever seen, and somehow that sentence isn’t hyperbole.
Joke WRLD Fest, the very first event from the Joke WRLD comedy collective, rolls into Coastal Creative (2201 1st Ave S) on August 14 and 15, running from 1 pm to midnight on both days. That’s 22 combined hours of stand-up comedy, live podcast recordings, food trucks, cold drinks, and the kind of organized chaos that only happens when you pack 80-plus comedians into a single weekend and tell them to get to work.

The weekend also features live podcast recordings, roast battles through the Roast Battle League, the God Damn Comedy Jam, the Absolute Show, and Stand Up on the Spot, a format that’s precisely the kind of high-wire act that either produces something electric or a glorious, memorable disaster. Both sound worth watching.
Oh, and there’s also a Comedian Home Run Derby at Campbell Park on Saturday morning. Comedians swinging bats in August in Florida. That kind of commitment to a bit deserves real, wholehearted recognition.
The whole neighborhood essentially becomes a comedy campus for the weekend, with Steep Station, Off-Central Players, and Spitfire Comedy House all within walking distance of festival HQ. If you’re flying in from out of town, both PIE and TPA airports offer quick, easy rides to downtown St. Pete, and the organizers recommend rideshare or biking once you’re there.
