Our No. 1 goal 365 days a year is to celebrate all things St. Pete, all things local, and all things good. For the next 30 or so of those days, we get to be a part of the celebration. Ritual Grounds just launched “Sunshine City Matcha,” a specialty drink in collaboration with our I Love the Burg team, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to not only have a drink named after our page, but inspired by it.
For those more interested in origin beans than origin stories, I’ll jump to the basics. The drink: Sunshine City Matcha is made with Ritual Grounds matcha (single-origin, multicultivar matcha from Uji, Japan) with tangerine syrup, oat milk (dairy milk available too), and a dairy-free blue spirulina marshmallow foam top, all thoughtfully garnished with golden dried flowers from our friends at Lida’s Jungle. It can also be ordered with coffee instead of matcha, if that’s more your vibe.

Ritual Grounds itself opened last summer, and we’ve been thrilled to see them thrive ever since. The mobile cafe is open outside Lida’s Jungle (3101 Dr M.L.K. Jr St N) Wednesdays–Fridays from 9 am – 2 pm, and they’ve been a hit with the neighborhood and the entire city alike. With the support of the community, the duo behind the concept have been able to quit their day jobs and cultivate their passion as a full-time business, much to our taste buds’ delight. We’ve been thrilled to be along for the journey since day one.
The Sunshine City Matcha, available August 21-September 21, is the perfect pairing for us. Fully gluten-free and dairy-free, it’s not only delicious, but safe for a variety of dietary restrictions. For our gluten- and dairy-free Art Director, Ysanne, it’s a gift from matcha heaven.
The new drink also serves as a celebration for our social team after our Instagram page topped 200,000 followers. We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has come along with us since our launch nearly 20 years ago, and in true I Love the Burg spirit, we’d rather say thank you through something tasty than through words (though we’ll use those too).
Stop by Ritual Grounds over the next month to try out the new drink, and feel free to do some plant shopping while you’re there. All Ritual Grounds customers can get 15% off select plants at Lida’s Jungle while you’re on the property.
