Can’t decide which restaurant you want for dinner? How ’bout all of them. St. Pete’s Grand Central District is hosting a mega-sized foodie gala and centennial celebration that showcases all the best things about the 100-year-old district under one roof (and, mercifully, in the AC).
Taste of Grand Central: Cheers to 100 years is being hosted at Coastal Creative (2201 1st Ave South) on Thursday, September 17, from 6-9 pm. The experience features more than a dozen neighborhood restaurants and shops, live music, a huge auction, and great drinks, all while supporting the great events and programs the neighborhood hosts year-round. Your ticket gets you a welcome drink to start the night off right, then it’s off to sample bites from some of the district’s most beloved spots. Trophy Fish, Cheeky’s, Pulpo, Noble Tavern, The Twisted Indian, and The Oyster Bar are all on the lineup, among others, all in one place for one night only. It’s a rare chance to have a Grand Central restaurant and bar crawl without having to do any actual, you know, walking.
While you’re working through those tastings, there’s live music to keep the night moving and a silent auction stacked with packages worth fighting for. It’s equal parts food crawl, block party, and community celebration.
Plus, every ticket sold goes right back into the neighborhood. Proceeds help fund beautification projects, business advocacy, and the events that make Grand Central so special, from Halloween on Central to the Christmas Market to Pride. So when you’re strolling Central Avenue on Halloween weekend this fall, you’ll know you had a part in making the huge street celebration happen.
As befits Grand Central, it’s a swanky night that still stays laid-back. Arrive ready to eat, drink, and hang out with all the people that make the neighborhood great. It’s a celebration of community as much as it is a celebration of food. But we definitely aren’t skipping the food.
