All-you-can-eat sushi has officially arrived on U.S. Highway 19 in Pinellas Park, and somewhere out there, a former WingHouse is watching this happen and feeling very complicated emotions about it.
Sushi Yama opened its doors at 7790 U.S. Highway 19 North in Pinellas Park on July 18, sliding into the roughly 8,000-square-foot space that WingHouse vacated last summer. After about a year and a half of renovations, the restaurant is open, seats approximately 200 guests, and made its debut with almost no fanfare whatsoever. No grand opening event. No influencer preview night. Just sushi, materializing on 19 between a Bojangles and a bb.q Chicken, on a stretch of road that’s quietly becoming one of Pinellas County’s more entertaining food corridors. Three very different restaurants, one very busy stretch of highway. We’re here for it.

Now, here’s where it gets good. Before your brain starts generating images of a soggy buffet line with tray-warmed fish and a sneeze guard, let’s set the record straight. At Sushi Yama, every dish is made to order and delivered directly to your table, which, in an all-you-can-eat setting, is frankly the only model worth talking about. The industry has had decades to arrive at this conclusion. Pinellas Park’s newest sushi spot is here, it seats 200 people, and it’s doing things right.
Made to order
The menu covers a lot of ground. Classic sushi rolls, sashimi, hand rolls, soups, and salads share the roster with a solid lineup of hibachi dishes: teriyaki, fried rice, yaki udon, tempura, and katsu. On the specialty roll side, the Little Tokyo arrives deep-fried with krab, shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese, finished with eel sauce, mayo, and fried onions. The Snow White brings shrimp tempura, snow crab, and eel sauce. Feeling fully committed? Sushi boats run $45.95 to $59.95 and come loaded with specialty rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. An à la carte menu is also available for those not ready to go all-in. Drinks run the full range: beer, wine, sake, and cocktails.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Pinellas Park has officially leveled up its sushi situation, and it’s about time.
