The Shop and Coffee Hosue is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it destination. I was on my way home from Physical Culture at BT Sports when I passed the plaza for the first time. Located at 5504 Haines Rd N, The Shop and Coffee House is an unassuming espresso and smoothie bar that also happens to serve as a sprawling art and vintage shop.

My heart grew ten sizes the second I saw that an old-school tin Spider-Man lunch box was on display. They also have local art across nearly every square inch of wall space. Shoppers can browse candles, vinyl records, local t-shirts, and unique home decor while they wait for their drink.

Pro tip: Treat yourself to the homemade jam. I also devoured four freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and I felt like I was back in my grandma’s kitchen at Christmastime.

The Shop and Coffee House’s drink menu includes your usual array of espresso-based drinks and smoothies. I sipped on a PB, Banana, and Date smoothie with a dash of protein powder, and sampled a coconut latte. I certainly want to give their PB and Jam toast a try on my next visit.

This is a mother-daughter-owned business, and the pair work exhaustively to support creatives in the community. They have ample seating that includes repurposed church pews, a leather recliner, and high-top tables situated next to blackboard bearing inspirational messages. It’s a trove of caffeinated delights, and a hidden gem you should visit ASAP.
