This is the year we finally get it together, right? If part of your goals for 2025 includes taking care of your physical and mental health, then one of the first steps is finding a great gym and facility. Luckily, here in St. Pete, we not only have three top of the line YMCAs, but they’re all offering a $0 join fee from now through February 3.
For those who have never been, The Y’s facilities go far and above the typical box-store gym. In addition to state-of-the-art fitness centers and equipment, membership also includes access to two different aquatic centers (one indoors, one outdoors), indoor gymnasiums for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, and unlimited group classes, such as the popular LES MILLS™ collection, yoga, pilates, Zumba®, cycling and more. There are also special classes and activities for older adults including fitness, fellowship and workshops.
It should always be noted that, as a family-focused organization, all locations also offer free childcare while you’re working out. In fact, YMCA membership also gets you discounts and early regsitration on youth sports and summer camps, plus access to fun family events throughout the year. If you have an active crew at home, we highly recommend the family memberships that give everyone in your family access to facilities and programs they can enjoy year-round.
St. Pete YMCA has three locations in town, including the brand new Speer YMCA at 495 62nd Ave. Northeast, which is truly a gem for the city. The Bardmoor YMCA is located at 8495 Bryan Dairy Rd., while the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA is located at 3200 1st Ave. South.
Make your resolution stick in 2025
It currently costs $0 to join and get access to all three locations, thanks to St. Pete YMCA’s “New Year, Stronger You” campaign. “Whether you’re looking to get stronger, stay active, or meet new friends, we’re here to help. At the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, we believe in creating a community where everyone can thrive.”
The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg outlined a five-point list of why now is the best time to join The Y and get your resolutions moving. It all starts, of course, with self-care and prioritizing our physical and mental health, whether it’s building muscle in the gym or relieving stress with a yoga class.
Additionally, The Y is more than just facilities – it provides a place of connection and belonging through supportive community to work on your goals with. And as we’ve outlined above, there’s something for everybody – from classes and lap pools to weight rooms and basketball courts. Through all of it, The Y also offers versatility in its membership packages, making it east to customize your (or your family’s) perfect plan.
Of course, that’s all about us. What’s also great about The Y is that a membership helps support the community we love and cherish in St. Pete. As the leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities, Y membership fees help provide scholarships to families in need, ensure kids receive quality care and help with school work, and create opportunities for everyone to connect and thrive. It’s an investment in people and communities, not corporations.
