Our favorite local grocer is turning 30 this July, and while they’ve been celebrating the upcoming anniversary all summer long, the official party takes place on Saturday, July 27. The mega-sized bash is going to be a must-visit experience with giveaways, new beer drops and much more.

Festivities officially take place from 10 am – 2 pm at Rollin’ Oats Market & Cafe, located at 2842 Dr. MLK Jr. Street North. The party is free to attend, and in addition to the always excellent shopping and dining at Rollin’ Oats (don’t miss out on their smoothies, a staff favorite here at I Love the Burg), there is a plethora of activities, giveaways and fun.

Dozens of local, regional and national vendors will be giving away free samples, including favorites like Mother Kombucha, Kahwa Coffee, A Bee’s Place Honey, Sunset Salsa, Catalyst Creamery and more. There will also be free wine and beer tastings, live music, face painting, flowers available from Posies Flower Truck, a photo booth, and a live chalk art painting by The Global Love Project.

New beer collabs available only at Rollin’ Oats

Of course, some of the things we’re most excited about are the new beer collaborations Rollin’ Oats is debuting. The local grocer has teamed up with local breweries and artists to create an excellent lineup of beers you can only find at Rollin’ Oats.

First up is Easy Rollin’ Ale, their long-running beer collaboration with Green Bench Brewing, which is enjoying a facelift with a label refresh courtesy of local artist and designer Jujmo. Then, a new collab with Green Bench is now on shelves, the Boujee Sour, inspired by Rollin’ Oats’ popular new smoothie line and brewed with lavender, blueberry and lemon.

New to the collab family is Cigar City Brewing, one of Tampa Bay’s greatest success stories. The On Cypress is a barrel-aged imperial porter brewed with cypress wood, vanilla and chocolate, and named for the street on which Rollin’ Oats Tampa is located.

It’s appropriate that this celebration takes place on 727 Day, with Rollin’ Oats being such a central part of what makes St. Pete special and local. The 27th will also be the final day to enter their last anniversary giveaway, this one for a brand new Peloton bike.

“As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re also looking ahead to the future,” Rollin’ Oats says. “We plan to continue our exciting collaborations with local breweries and other partners, maintaining our commitment to providing high-quality, organic, and sustainable products. Our focus remains on supporting the local community, offering unparalleled customer service, and embracing sustainability initiatives. Stay tuned for more exciting developments and innovations as we continue to grow and evolve with St. Pete.”

Rollin’ Oats is a local star

Those who know Rollin’ Oats know what to expect, but for those who may be new, the grocer is the go-to for great organic produce, natural foods, healthy snacks, and fresh prepared meals.

Bert Swain and Larry Schwartz founded Rollin’ Oats Market & Café in St. Pete in July of 1994. Bert had a background in specialty and natural foods and co-owned a coffee and herbs store in the French Quarter. Larry had worked in food service and previously owned an uptown neighborhood bar.

The two met at a poker game when they resided in New Orleans, became friends, and ultimately they both ended up in St. Petersburg. In 1985, they opened Richard’s Whole Foods in the Tyrone area, one of their first stores. The St. Petersburg location of Rollin’ Oats Market & Café opened in 1994, followed by the Tampa location in 2008.
