St. Pete’s Grand Central District never met a holiday it didn’t like, and Independence Day provides yet another reason to celebrate. The neighborhood is hosting a family-friendly, Stars & Stripes Block Party on Saturday, July 4, right off Central Avenue.
The party runs from 12-5 pm, making it the perfect daytime excursion for those skipping the fireworks, or an ideal pre-fireworks celebration for those heading to the waterfront for sundown. Festivities take place on 23rd St. N between Central Ave and 1st Ave. N.

The block party is free to attend and will feature local vendors, community organizations, entertainment, food, and patriotic activities for all ages. Highlights include complimentary collectible Florida-themed Coca-Cola cans while supplies last, delicious favorites from the Coney Island Hot Dog Truck, refreshing snow cones, and a variety of local businesses and makers showcasing their products and services.
And of course, all of the neighborhood will be joining in on the fun as the party spills into the shops, restaurants and bars along Central Avenue and 1st Avenue South.
The Block Party is also an “official America 250 registered celebration,” honoring the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The stretch of 23rd Street will be closed to traffic, turning the block into a mini festival for the day.
