After nearly three years of anticipation, Forbici Modern Italian is finally set to make its St. Pete debut. The Hyde Park Village star will open tonight in St. Pete’s Sundial (179 2nd Avenue North), debuting its highly anticipated St. Pete outpost.
The popular Italian restaurant, a concept by Next Level Brands and restaurateur Jeff Gigante, has taken over the massive space left behind by the closure of Sea Salt on the second floor of Sundial. The restaurant has undergone significant change since Forbici began preparations and we’re excited to see the new space. It opens at 3 pm daily

Next Level Brands and Jeff Gigante are also behind popular Tampa restaurants Boulon Brasserie & Bakery, Union New American, and Predalina. The new Forbici location will be their first St. Pete restaurant, and they join a growing list of Tampa restaurateurs to make the jump across the bridge. Olivia’s downtown debut last year has been a success, and Forbici is expected to get a similar welcome.
As for the restaurant itself, the modern Italian concept features lunch, brunch and dinner service, as well as a full cocktail menu and a popular happy hour. The star of the show is the Roman-style pizza. The Teglia square pizza features handcrafted dough that is fermented for 72 hours and baked at a high temperature ensuring an incredibly light and airy crust. The pizza is finished with house-made mozzarella and perfectly cut with artisan scissors.
The beef and pork meatballs are one of the restaurant’s most popular offerings, while the lengthy pasta menu offers modern takes on Italian classics. Forbici also has an excellent selection of burgers, steaks, seafood and veal. Grain bowls, salads and a variety of starters (including their popular calabrian wings) round out the menu.
