All Elite Wrestling is bringing its marquee AEW Dynamite: Beach Break to The BayCare Sound at Coachman Park in Clearwater Beach this Wednesday, July 8. It’s the promotion’s very first show at the waterfront venue, and the card they’ve assembled is absolutely stacked. The action kicks off at 7:30 pm, broadcast live on TBS and HBO Max, so you’ve got options. You could watch from your couch like a responsible adult, or you could be there in person, sunburned, screaming, and happy about it.

Let’s talk about what’s on this card, because this isn’t your average Wednesday night. It’s the fifth edition of AEW’s Beach Break series, and the company doesn’t come to this corner of Florida very often. History is happening, people. Or at least some very athletic people in various states of theatrical fury are happening, which, depending on your priorities, is essentially the same thing. Tickets are available here, and The BayCare Sound is located at 255 Drew Street.

The main event is MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega, and there’s a stipulation attached that makes it feel like the kind of high-stakes drama HBO would greenlight in a heartbeat. If Omega loses, he can never challenge for the AEW World title again. Ever. As one wrestler eloquently articulated, “Big meaty men slapping meat,” and this Wednesday, that meat could have career-ending consequences. MJF is 2-0 against Omega all-time, which means either history repeats itself or Kenny Omega walks out of Clearwater with gold and a reason to cry directly into the Gulf. Either way, you don’t want to miss it.

That main event alone would justify the trip, but AEW’s card doesn’t stop there. Konosuke Takeshita puts the AEW International Championship on the line against Kyle Fletcher in a match that’ll make your jaw drop and your chiropractor nervous. Chris Jericho goes one-on-one with Tommaso Ciampa, which is the professional wrestling equivalent of two people who refuse to slow down doing exactly that, loudly, in front of thousands of spectators.

Then there’s the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match, with Athena entering at the #1 spot and Maya World right behind her at #2, all fighting for a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at Redemption. The remaining entrants are still a mystery, which basically makes this match a surprise party where everyone ends up on the mat.

Clearwater doesn’t get this kind of action very often, so don’t spend Wednesday night rewatching the same three shows on Netflix like the rest of us. Grab your tickets now, get yourself to The BayCare Sound, and watch some of the best wrestlers on the planet do what they do best, right in our own backyard.
