Just in time for Valentine’s Day, one of St. Pete’s most iconic venues is earning recognition on the national stage for its romantic allure. A division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the highly respected Historic Hotels of America (HHA) released its list of the 25 most romantic hotels in America, and St. Pete’s The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection was one of two hotels in the state of Florida to make the cut.

Locals of course know the historic hotel well, from stories of its haunted guestrooms and tower, to afternoons spent on The Veranda overlooking the water. The Vinoy turns 99 years old this year, having been opened in 1925. St. Augustine’s Casa Monica Resort & Spa (opened in 1888) was the only other Florida hotel to make the list.

HHA credited St. Pete’s charm, art and natural beauty as a significant complementary factor for The Vinoy. They also doted praise upon The Vinoy’s recent renovation (and new status in the Marriott Autograph Collection), saying the beautiful hotel and resort “captures the magic of Florida’s Golden Age.” Read more about The Vinoy’s renovation here.
