The Hippie Shack is a little old place where weeeee can get together…on St. Pete Beach. Sounds groovy! The shack is a new restaurant and bar that’s bringing old school vibes to St. Pete Beach, and staving off luxury development in the process. The Hippie Shack is opening on October 14 at 9555 Blind Pass Road in St. Pete Beach, the former location of Sea Hags.
Promising to be “an eatin’, drinkin’ and dancin’ kind of joint,” The Hippie Shack will be a throwback hangout with a full restaurant, craft cocktails, and a heavy serving of ‘60s and ‘70s tunes. There will be regular live music and dancing at the waterfront watering hole, along with views of the sunset over the marina.

Those who have been following St. Pete Beach real estate know the property home to Sea Hags and the marina was sold to developers a couple years ago. There were originally plans for a luxury boat house development, but the property has since been bought from the developer, ensuring the property will remain somewhat as-is, of course with the addition of The Hippie Shack.
The new restaurant has been teasing new food and drink items ahead of the launch, with a Reuben pizza and the midwestern staple Maid-Rite sandwich (a loose-meat sandwich somewhat similar to a Sloppy Joe). Their “Hippie Juice” is one of the signature cocktails, a boozy and tangy lemonade that The Hippie Shack says will have you shaking your groove thing all night long.
The restaurant and bar officially opens on Saturday, October 14th. More from The Hippie Shack: “Our team has been working hard to create a one-of-a-kind food & drink menu, both with some local favorites AND new items you won’t find anywhere on our beaches. Our great live entertainment will transport you back to the grooviest era and will be sure to keep you dancing the night away… long after enjoying some of the area’s best sunsets!”

The Hippie Shack will also have a Hank’s Bark Box where guests can donate dog and cat food. Follow the restaurant on Facebook for more.
