On April 30th, 2022, the Deuces Food Forest located at 1335 22nd St S in St. Petersburg launched to combat food insecurity. Led by Ramona Brayboy and supported by the community, this initiative aims to enhance self-sufficiency and unity. Providing fresh produce for residents in the ‘Burg
In the past, garden mentorship has been provided by Amal Christopher Jennings, and one of the key sponsors, Channelle Hill, Director of Business Development GoldCardServices.com, shared her testimonial: “When I first spoke with the woman in charge before the food forest existed, I told her I wanted to get fresh produce to anyone in need, especially those without access—the disabled, elderly, and those in food deserts.” Hill continues, “Yesterday, the Founder of the Food Forest was able to make our first donation delivery to a single mom in need. She will now receive weekly fresh organic produce delivered to her home for her and her baby until she is back on her feet. Plus, other donated items and job placement assistance!”
The Deuces Food Forest is all about cultivating both food and community! With exciting events lined up, this vibrant project aims to involve as many residents as possible. Together, we’re building a sustainable future for South St. Pete, one flourishing garden at a time.
