Tasting Table recently released its list of the 21 best Cuban sandwich spots in America. Three legendary Tampa restaurants made the list, and a beloved St. Pete institution was also among the best of the best. Bodega (1180 Central Avenue) in the EDGE District is on the list, folks.

Here’s what Tasting Table editor Elettra Pauletto has to say about Bodega: “At this popular spot in St. Petersburg, you can get your Cuban sandwich to go from the Bodega on Central order window or you can sit down and enjoy it at a table. The only catch is that you might have to wait a while before you get this award-winning sandwich, as there are frequent lines out the door.”

Enhance your sandwich experience with a freshly squeezed juice made from premium ingredients or indulge in an elaborate smoothie. For a more unique ambiance, head to the back-room speakeasy, Bar Chica, where you can savor inventive cocktails. One standout is the Bywater, crafted with rum, Averna, green Chartreuse, falernum, and bitters.

Bodega also offers great vegetarian options. I’m a big fan of the veggie plato with seasoned tofu, an extra order of maduros, and my favorite drink The Chi Chi (lime agua fresca and sweet tea).

Follow Bodega on Instagram to learn more about the restaurant and its menu.
