The 28,000-square-foot St. Pete Skatepark celebrates 6 years in the ‘Burg

The 28,000-square-foot St. Pete Skatepark celebrates 6 years in the ‘Burg

Skateboarders ride ramps at a large outdoor skatepark

Alexa, play “Superman” by Goldfinger. That song pulses through my head every time I see any footage from the amazing array of skaters at St. Pete Skatepark (600 12th St S). Their Instagram account is filled with phenomenal footage of local skaters putting together captivating sequences at the skate park. It’s 28,000-square-feet of creative exploration, and the St. Pete Regional Skate Park will celebrate its 6 year anniversary on Saturday, April 27.

The anniversary celebration will include skate competitions with cash prizes, food trucks, a local market, DJs, a Hall of Fame Ceremony, and live music. It runs from 10am-4pm, and you can see a full schedule of events on St. Pete Skatepark’s Instagram.

The million dollar St. Pete Skatepark

One the main sponsors of the event is Anchor Skate Supply, my personal favorite shop in all of St. Pete. You can visit it at 501 16th St S. There’s a 4ft Tall x 16 Ft halfpipe open on designated days and hours outside of the shop available to skate for customers. A Digital Liability Release form must be completed in order to skate the ramp. If under 18 the Digital Liability Release form must be filled out and signed by parent or leagal guardian.

The available mini ramp hours, rules, and release form can be found on Anchor Skate’s website.

The $1.25 million skate park is housed in the Campbell Park neighborhood. The expansive park includes unique designs including the deepest skate park bowl in Florida, these skaters say they can’t wait to enjoy the summer here.

The skatepark was designed and built Cutler Associates, Team Pain Skate Parks, Hunter Booth of Booth Design Group and Dan Vickstrom of Vickstrom Engineering.

It has features for all levels, including a street course, a snake run, an intermediate and a deep bowl, which is one of the most exciting features. The 12-foot-deep bowl is the deepest skatepark bowl in Florida and is designed for advanced level skateboarders and BMX riders.
