The Sunshine City is getting even more light shined upon it. St. Petersburg was named one of the happiest cities in America, cited by Outside in its series on the best towns in the United States.

Outside started with a list of 300 places, came up with 15 criteria, and whittled it down to 15 standout cities. From small hamlets like Hood River, Oregon to celebrated stars such as New Orleans, the list of finalists showcases the happiest places to live in America, and naturally, St. Pete made the cut.

“What constitutes a happy town?” Outside asked. “It comes down to things like ample outdoor access, affordability, a safe environment, diversity, and freedom for residents to be who they are.”

St. Pete, of course, fits the bill perfectly in those categories. The Burg has an award-winning parks system, perfect scores for diversity and inclusiveness for years running, and plenty of activities in the sunshine that are welcome to all.

These are things that locals certainly know already, and they exemplify why so many people have chosen to relocate and call St. Pete home in recent years. After all, as Outside said: “As the world rethinks how we work and live, people are searching for a better quality of life and a strong sense of community.”
