The best Tampa Bay Rays experience outside of Tropicana Field is right around the corner. The annual Rays on the Runway gala returns to St. Pete later this month as Rays fans, execs and players gather in support of the local nonprofit Children’s Dream Fund for a night of vintage Hollywood elegance.
Rays on the Runway takes place on Thursday, August 27, kicking off at 6:30 pm at The Floridian Social (687 Central Ave), and bringing with it a night of entertainment, fashion, and fun in the name of supporting local children. The highlight of the night is the fashion show that begins the slate of festivities, as 15 dream children take the runway alongside Rays players for a night inspired by vintage Hollywood elegance. Since its founding in 1981, the St. Petersburg-based Children’s Dream Fund has fulfilled more than 4,000 dreams for local children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. The evening kicks off with the celebratory runway show, with Tampa Bay Rays players, their significant others, and the dream children modeling fashions from local shops Zaa and Matter of Fact. Festivities continue with a lively social hour featuring an open bar, light bites, live music, photo ops, and more.
The main program includes an exciting live auction and a powerful “Mission Moment” spotlighting one of the local dreamers and their inspiring journey as the family shares how the Children’s Dream Fund has impacted their lives, as well as the broader community the organization serves.
Following the Mission Moment, guests will be invited to participate in a Bid From the Heart, raising critical funds to help fulfill the dreams of the more than 150 children currently on the Dream Fund waiting list.
The unforgettable night is a favorite not just among Rays fans, but for the players who get to take the runway with the dream children and meet their families. It’s a heartwarming experience for all involved, and it’s one that does good far beyond the walls of the building.
