Family-owned restaurant Matteo Trattoria & Pizzeria is bringing your favorite Italian dishes to Central Avenue, but with a California flair. Nando Silvestri opened the first Matteo’s in Los Angeles in 1992. Since then, the restaurant has expanded and is serving up delicious pizzas, pastas, and other classics at its Tampa location.
Here’s the opening announcement posted last week:
“We are finally open!!! After sometime of waiting we have opened our doors and are excited to share delicious Italian food with the City of St Pete. Our pizza oven has not yet been approved but our homemade pastas and homemade gnocchi are the way to go.”
Indulge in Matteo Trattoria & Pizzeria’s gnocchi bar
Named after Silvestri’s son, Matteo prides itself in offering hearty meals in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. The best part? You can fill up on your favorites and indulge in a night out without breaking the bank thanks to the restaurant’s moderate price point.
Though the authentic Neapolitan pizza is a staple at Matteo, its extensive menu is full of homemade pastas, traditional entrees, and appetizers so tasty that you could make a meal of the first course alone. It also includes a list of vibrant seafood dishes, a gnocchi bar, and healthful salads.
Savor wood-fired pizzas at Matteo’s
Matteo new St. Pete location is at the corner of Central Avenue and 24th Street, between The Saint Speakeasy and Cocktail St. Pete. The space previously housed Sophia’s Cucina + Enoteca, which announced its closure on March 30.
If you’re eager to get your hands on a Matteo’s wood-fired pizza and other mouthwatering dishes, you can also visit the Tampa location at 2402 S. MacDill Ave.
