A local favorite for island-inspired fare is about to become a downtown staple. Kickin’ Caribbean, a celebrated Caribbean cafe, is taking over the kitchen at St. Pete Brewing Co. and dishing up Caribbean delights for all of St. Pete.
Celebrated for their jerk flavors and Chef Carrie Small’s creative dishes, Kickin’ Caribbean officially makes its debut at the brewery this Thursday, August 24. St. Pete Brewing Co., which recently finished the build-out of a full kitchen as part of its renovation, is located at 544 1st Avenue North, a stone’s throw away from the SunRunner stop at 5th Street North. While we don’t yet have official hours for Kickin’ Caribbean, we’re expecting the concept to at least be open every Thursday-Sunday.

The menu offers a wide variety of build-your-own bowls, shareable apps (we’re eyeing the fried mac and cheese), salads, and even desserts. Kickin’ Caribbean’s big bowls are where their flavor best shines, offering protein options such as their flagship jerk chicken, candied steak, pulled pork, guava habanero chicken, or pineapple ginger teriyaki chicken. Bowls come stuffed with rice, beans, sweet plantains, and mango coleslaw, in addition to the selected protein.
Other small bites include chicken tenders and fries, pressed wraps (chicken or pork), and loaded fries. And knowing Kickin’ Caribbean, we won’t be surprised to see rotating specials along the way. Of course, while you’re there, St. Pete Brewing Co. makes some of the best beer in town, and they’ve even put together a pairing list for the beers that perfectly complement the island dishes. Sign us up for a jerk chicken bowl with a pint of St. Pete Orange Wheat.
Follow Kickin Caribbean on Facebook for more, and follow St. Pete Brewing on Instagram for updates. Let us know if you get a taste of Kickin’ Caribbean. We’re looking forward to trying it out.
