It’s time to paw-ty, St. Pete. Pinellas Ale Works, the city’s dog-themed beer destination, has been named the No. 1 dog-friendly brewery to visit in the United States. PAW, as it is called, is located at 1962 1st Avenue South.
The ranking comes courtesy of Chewy.com, the popular pet food and pet products retailer, who gave PAW credit for their dog-centric amenities, as well their many beers named for dogs, such as the Milk Bone Stout and Puppy Breath Hazy IPA.

This Saturday, August 26, is National Dog Day, so PAW is hosting a sprawling celebration in honor of all pups. “Boots, Brews, and Pups” will take place from 3-7 pm, including a dog-themed market, giveaways for all dogs dressed in country costumes, a dog-themed menu from Made Fresh Taqueria, new beer releases, live music, and even a free barn-themed photo booth. Plus, $1 from every beer sold will go toward the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Get more info here.
Regular readers of I Love the Burg know PAW is one of our favorite breweries in town. In addition to being such a great spot for pups, they also happen to have some of the straight up best beers in St. Pete and one of the biggest tap lists in the city. We definitely recommend getting a flight when you visit PAW so that you can try plenty, and we also encourage you to arrive hungry. Made Fresh Taqueria, their on-site food truck, is can’t miss, and pairs perfectly with cold beer.
The full review from Chewy: “Affectionately known as PAW by the locals, Pinellas Ale Works caters to pups and their parents. You’ll find dog water bowls all around and dog treats on every table. Along with their cute paw print logo, many of the craft brews sport fun dog-inspired names like their Pomeranian Porter and Vanilla Lab Latte.

Stop by on Thursdays to take part in their weekly Yappy Hour, where they host a different animal-focused charity. PAW donates a portion of beer sales to these charities, so you can feel good about ordering a second round. Be sure to check out their great selection of branded merchandise for both you and your dog, too.”
