The Historic Old Northeast in St. Pete is a beautiful place to live and visit. It’s a hot spot for wild Halloween decorations during spooky season, hosts an enchanting candlelit tour of homes in the winter, and is walking distance from the fabulous Coffee Pot Boulevard and North Shore Park. The neighborhood was just named the most idyllic urban haven in America according to a survey conducted by EasyCoops.com.
Overall, I can’t speak much to the source of this info, but I’ll take almost any opportunity to celebrate the second neighborhood I called home in St. Pete. The first behind a spot in Coquina Key right behind the restaurant formerly known as Munch’s.

The area boasts thousands of historic homes, charming cobblestone streets, quick access to stunning Sunken Gardens, and a wonderful neighborhood coffee shop in Black Crow, and a beloved pizza slice joint in Old NE Pizza. The plaza also includes the resident favorite Old Northeast Tavern.
You can learn more about the neighborhood, and its history with the Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association (HONNA).
You can find an entrance to the Old Northeast neighborhood off 1st Street North and 5th Avenue, and along Beach Dr and 5th Ave N. Both entrances feature handprinted columns with a signature hex block logo.
