A New Law which takes effect today in Florida lifts the $100 buy-in maximum for cash games and the $1000 maximum buy-in for tournaments. It also extends the hours that poker rooms can remain open. The laws affect state sanctioned dog and horse tracks and jai-lai frontons as well as Seminole Tribe casinos such as Tampa’s Hard Rock. The new law will allow poker rooms to stay open for 18 hrs on weekdays and around the clock on weekends.
Card rooms in Tampa will be open 24 hours from Friday morning through Sunday morning. The poker room at St. Petersburg’s Derby Lane will stay open until 4am.
Many in the poker world are saying this move will make Florida a premiere poker destination. What do you think?
