Emilio’s to Pipo’s
It didn’t take long for the Central Ave. spot which Emilio’s recently vacated to find a new tenant. Pipo’s “The Original Cuban Café” is a Tampa-based mini-chain that has been serving up authentic native Cuban and Carribean food for over thirty years. The menu features traditional faves such as ropa vieja, picadillo, café con leche and flan. Of course there’s also an extensive sandwich menu which features variations on the Cuban sandwich. In keeping with its authentic Cuban roots, a selection of Spanish sodas are also available.

The owner tells us that the St. Petersrburg Central Ave. location will have a special tapas menu available starting at 4pm on weekends as well as live entertainment. They’ll be keeping the doors open ‘til at least midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

Pipo’s
will be located at 437 Central Ave.

Yogurtology, Almost There!
It looks like Yogurtology, the self-serve frozen yogurt chain out of Arizona is quickly making its east coast debut here in Florida. The sign is up at the Shops at Old Northeast located on the corner of 4th St. N. and 30th Ave. We don’t have a definite opening date from them yet but it looks like it should be very soon, just in time for the warmer weather! Simple, clean and delicious is their motto. They offer yummy sounding flavors of froyo and toppings include cut up fresh fruit, hand cut candy bars and other delectables.

Yogurtology will be located on 3039 4th St. N.

Fried Snickers @ Five Bucks
Did you know that you can get a taste of the Florida State Fair right here in downtown St. Petersburg? Five Bucks Drinkery which recently opened in the space formerly occupied by Chappy’s offers a fried Snickers bar on their dessert menu for only $2.75! If that doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth you can order the more traditional funnel cake and for those looking for something a bit more savory, how about the chocolate-dipped bacon? As for how the fried Snickers tastes? We’d describe it as an extra chewy tollhouse cookie sligtly dusted with salt.

Five Bucks Drinkery is located at 247 Central Ave.
