You know it’s a good workout when you’re not only doing good for your own health, but someone else’s, too. The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation One Step Closer to the Cure race returns to St. Pete on Saturday, September 14, bringing a beautiful run and amazing fundraiser to downtown.

Featuring a 5K run/walk and 1-mile run/walk, the race starts and ends at Albert Whitted Park, spanning a beautiful 3.1-mile loop along St. Pete’s downtown waterfront. Locals and visitors alike are invited to walk, run, or jog with fellow supporters and help provide financial assistance to ovarian cancer patients, while also supporting research, prevention, and education in the community.

Registration for the race is available here, and there are three options for participation this year. In addition to the chip-timed 5k and 1-mile run/walks, there is also a “sleep-in” option that allows participants to begin the run any time they like. Tickets are $45, $35, and $40 for each option, respectively. Prices will increase on September 6, so be sure to register soon.

One Step Closer to the Cure is hosted by the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which sponsors research and assists in the development of early detection and prevention for ovarian cancer, as well as supporting education and awareness. Through the Hope Fund, proceeds will provide help and hope to women in the community suffering from ovarian cancer. This annual race is made possible thanks to the participants and the incredible support of community sponsors.
