First Night 2010

 The first First Night celebration was held in Boston 34 years ago started by a small group of artists the idea was to create an alternative artistic and cultural way of celebrating New Years Eve sans alcohol. Since then, cities and communities throughout the US have been hosting their own First Night Celebrations. This year St. Petersburg will host it’s  17th annual First Night event. The celebration runs from 5pm to midnight and takes place in over 20 downtown venues.

Headlining the First Night festivities is American Idol Season 9 finalist Michael Lynch who hails from St. Petersburg and graduated from Gibbs High School. He’ll be performing at 11pm in North Straub Park. For a full schedule of performances click here.

Keeping true to the family friendly vibe of First Night, families will be able to participate in various activities as part of First Kids that will take place in the Baywalk courtyard starting at 5pm and running through 8:30pm.

There will be two fireworks shows one at 9pm and another larger one at midnight.

Tickets (which are actually buttons that you wear to gain admission to the festivities) are available online and at at various retailers around town.
The price is $10 for adults $6 for kids (age 6-12) under 5 yrs old free
The day of the event ticket prices are $12 for adults $6 for kids
