If you’ve had ice cream at a market, festival or public gathering in St. Pete the last several years, odds are strong it was Churned Ice Cream. Now, the mobile sweets star is debuting its brick-and-mortar scoop shop.
After a pair of pop-up soft opens, Churned is celebrating the grand opening of its walk-up ice cream shop this Sunday, July 19, in honor of National Ice Cream Day. Festivities will take place from 4-8 pm at their “creation kitchen” located at 5504 Haines Rd N in St. Pete.

Believe it or not, the experience is even sweeter than it sounds. To celebrate the occasion, Churned is giving away one free small cup of ice cream per person during the opening party. That’s only as long as supplies last, so we’d recommend getting there early.
The new scoop shop is small in square footage but is going big with offerings. In addition to scoops of their many specialty flavors (by the cup or cone), they also have dirty sodas, their popular gourmet popsicles, and specialty treats like ice cream tacos and ice cream sandwiches. They also serve pup cups and will have ice cream cakes available, as well.
Churned has made a name for itself locally by starring at local events, often providing the exact cool treat we need when walking around a crowded field or parking lot devoid of shade. Adding in the pup cups made it an experience the whole crew can enjoy.
It’s been a tough few years for local businesses, which makes us all the more thrilled to see a local star grow and succeed the way Churned has.
While Sunday is the grand opening, you can also catch them this Friday and Saturday from 4-8 pm at the new scoop shop. The ice cream shop will be open Friday-Sunday from 4-8 pm going forward, while you can also still find Churned at events all over town. Follow them on Instagram to see the latest.
