Grand Central’s newest restaurant is also, in many ways, the first of its kind in the neighborhood. 31 Grand Sports Bar is now open at 3063 Central Avenue North in the former Punky’s space.
While the building is structurally the same, new ownership has given the space some heavy renovations both indoor and outdoor. Namely, there are close to 100 TVs pumping out all manner of sports and broadcasts for guests to easily watch from any seat. 31 Grand is also one of only a handful of spots in the neighborhood open every day of the week – beginning at noon daily and running until 1 am on weekdays and 3 am on Friday and Saturday.

Like any good sports bar, 31 Grand has a little something for everyone, and in addition to the food and drink, the new space also doubles as a cigar and hookah lounge. The full bar is also a full-service restaurant, with an emphasis on higher-end comfort food for lunch and dinner, as well as a hearty-sounding brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
31 Grand specializes in feel-good food
31 Grand’s menu starts with a variety of shareables. Larger options include a Mediterranean plate, slow smoked chicken wings, brisket-stuffed jalapenos, jumbo shrimp skewers, and buttermilk fried chicken tenders. Smaller nibbles range from blue crab dip and onion rings to truffle parmesan fries and baked mac and cheese.
For the main course, 31 Grand dishes up six filling options. Try the smoked pork sandwich, grilled chicken bomb, gulf shrimp po boy, wagyu burger, mushroom and truffle melt, or the 31 Grand signature ribeye. And save room for dessert: the kitchen is pumping out chocolate ganache cake, French donuts, Krispy Kreme donut bread pudding, and cheesecake in a jar.
We haven’t yet had a chance to dive into the menu, so let us know if you have a review. And if you’re planning a visit, 31 Grand is conveniently located just one block from the closest SunRunner stop (free through the end of April) on 32nd Street.
