St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport has its busiest December ever

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) celebrated its most significant December ever, with 222,132 passengers.

PIE is gearing up to introduce an exciting new travel option. Nonstop flights to the picturesque Colorado Springs will commence this February. In addition, new nonstop service to historic Savannah, GA, took off in November.

New flights, and a major expansion in the works

In May, PIE announced it was undertaking a $110 million terminal expansion project. This summer, Pinellas County commissioners unanimously approved $14 million in funding for the design and construction management firm.

The expansion will add four new gates with jet bridges, a centralized TSA checkpoint, and concessions, according to officials with PIE.

The airport, along with federal and state grants, will fund the $110 million centralion terminal expans.
