10,000 sq. ft. Bookstore Coming to Tyrone Mall

10,000 sq. ft. Bookstore Coming to Tyrone Mall

St. Pete is a city of voracious readers. A pure love of literature is in the Sunshine City’s DNA. This is the place where Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Shutter Island) cut his teeth before becoming a New York Times bestselling author. The Burg is the city where Jack Kerouac spent his last days. Our slice of paradise is where award-winning authors across all genres gather for one of the premier writer’s conferences in the entire country. Not to mention the fantastic rise of the local organization Keep St. Pete Lit. Their classes, events and overall love of local art have helped activate St. Pete’s literary community.

100,000 books line the shelves of 321 Books

Beginning March 4, the Tyrone Square Mall will house a 10,000+ sq. ft. bookstore, 321 Books, stocked with 100,000 hardcover and paperback used books. All books will be priced at $3 and under. The store will also sell DVDs, video games and CDs.

“We are really excited to have our first store opening at Tyrone Square Mall. 321 Books buys and sorts over 25,000 books per day and most of them can’t be sold on Amazon. Mostly, because the books weigh too much. I think people will be shocked at the books they will be seeing in the store, they’re like new and some are over 90% off MSRP,” said Tim Russell, Principal for 321 Books. “This store is going to further our company goal of donating over 1,000,000 books this year to kids and great local charities.”

Tyrone Square Mall celebrates the arts

321 Books will feature a children’s area and bring in authors from around the world for book signings. ” . . . space at Tyrone Square Mall is at a premium and bookstores are needed here.” said Russell. “Their commitment to having a community bookstore and common sense business made the new lease very easy. In addition it was great to work with Simon Malls and our agent Alison Thompson. Without everyone’s effort it would not have been possible.”

Donations, volunteers welcome

The store is always open to accepting donations and is always open to volunteers looking to help out at the store/local book sale. For those looking to put a small dent in their book collection, 321 Bookstore offers 2-for1 trade ins. The store is located in the same concourse as JCPenny in the Tyrone Square Mall, 6901 22nd Avenue North. You can follow the store’s progress on their website and Facebook page.
