The City of St. Pete highlighted a plethora of reasons as to why the Sunshine City is the Greenest in the state. We've compressed them down to offer you a concise list of reasons why the #SunShinesHere.

St. Pete's Sunlit City Parks Initiative utilizes solar panels, restrooms and other facilities to offset electric costs.

St. Pete offers BlueWays trails for canoes, kayaks and other paddle watercraft. Each route offers a new scenic opportunity. There are 10 BlueWays trails throughout the city.

Mayor Kriseman announced a major environmental project at the North Shore Aquatic Complex earlier in the year. The project involves a mix of renewable energies involving solar and ground water combined with more conventional means of energy conservation. Savings are to exceed $20,000 annually. St. Pete's network of bike lanes and trails now stretches more than 125 miles and is the most extensive network in the southeast. The Burg has been named Florida's best Walking City.

The completed revitalization of Mirror Lake Park includes enhanced lighting, a 10 foot wide multi purpose trail around the whole park and community gathering plazas at the northwest and northeast corners of the park.

The Blue Ocean Film Festival makes it debut in the Burg on November 3. One of the largest environmental documentary film events in the world held annually in the U.S and Monaco is expected to draw 20,000 people.

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is a beacon of all things natural. The Preserve offers more than 3 miles of trails and boardwalks, 5 ecosystems and an Environmental Study Program and Education Center. 

It's ELECTRIC. The city installed electric vehicle charging stations throughout the downtown area. Now we just have to wait for the E class Tesla to come to market…
