The final “Voices from the Corridor” workshop will be held on March 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg’s Center for Health Equity (2333 34th St S). Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., welcoming community members for an evening dedicated to shaping the future of The Deuces Corridor. You can register in advance for the event here.

This concluding session will highlight the key takeaways from the workshop series, reflecting on the valuable insights shared by residents, business owners, and stakeholders. More importantly, attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate on developing actionable plans for revitalizing the corridor. With community input driving these initiatives, the workshop aims to turn collective ideas into tangible progress.

A part of the Imagine the Deuces initiative

“Voices from the Corridor” is an integral part of the City of St. Petersburg’s Imagine the Deuces initiative, which honors the rich history and cultural significance of 22nd Street South, known as The Deuces. Through this initiative, the city has sought to engage residents in meaningful conversations about the area’s future. The series has provided a platform for the community to discuss their vision, voice concerns, and contribute to the ongoing transformation of this historic district.

Mayor Kenneth T. Welch has emphasized the importance of these workshops, recognizing The Deuces as a cornerstone of St. Pete’s past and a key part of its future. “The Deuces Corridor holds a special place in St. Pete’s history and future,” Welch said. “These workshops are a chance for our community to come together, share ideas, and help shape what’s next. I invite everyone to join us in honoring this legacy and building a vibrant future for South St. Pete.”

Feedback on the next chapter of South St. Pete’s redevelopment

Throughout the series, participants have explored various aspects of the corridor’s revitalization, including updates on projects that have been in motion since the 2018 Action Plan. The workshops have also served as a space for residents to offer feedback on the next chapter of South St. Pete’s redevelopment.

As the series concludes, the final workshop will be crucial for the community to solidify plans to enhance public spaces, support local businesses, and strengthen neighborhood connections. Attendees will directly shape the next steps for The Deuces Live and Warehouse Arts District.

Imagine the Deuces honors the rich history, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped St. Petersburg’s 22nd Street South, known as “The Deuces.” At its peak in the 1960s, this corridor was a thriving hub with over 100 Black-owned businesses, entertainment venues, and professional offices. It played a vital role in the community. Officials have expressed their desire to collaborate with residents to restore its legacy and revitalize its cultural significance.
