The highly anticipated Mangosteen has officially opened its doors on the 600 block of Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. A tropical bar and restaurant, Mangosteen specializes in yakitori, tapas, tacos, sushi and stir fry, as well as a lengthy craft cocktail list.
Mangosteen’s creative and flavorful menu spans a wide spectrum of tastes with everything from squid seaweed salad and duck dumplings to shrimp tacos and a spicy Korean steak sandwich. The extensive menu also offers 16 different sushi rolls, another half-dozen Asian-inspired bowls and wok dishes, several salad options, and more than two dozen choices in appetizers, dumplings, yakitori, sashimi and nigiri.

Mangosteen offers small plates, intimate seating
The interior showcases an elegant and minimalistic design with an intimate vibe and exposed rafters original to the building. Capitalizing on the space available, Mangosteen has expansive bar seating and loads of natural light coming in through the all-glass storefront.
Among the early menu favorites are the tuna tar tar, duck dumplings, scallop yakitori and the Mangosteen sushi roll (tuna, salmon, snapper, white tuna, crab, asparagus, cream cheese, tobiko, scallion and teriyaki).
Mangosteen is located at 656 Central Avenue and its hours at opening are 11 am – 3 pm and 5-10 pm M-Th, 11 am – 3 pm and 5-11 pm F, 12-3 pm and 5-11 pm Sat, and 12-3 pm and 5-10 pm Sun.
