Some of the most popular tacos in Texas will make their St. Pete debut over the next week. Torchy’s Tacos, the Austin-based Tex-Mex chain, is opening at 2314 Tyrone Blvd N on Wednesday, February 1, with a huge Community Party night scheduled for Monday, January 30 from 5-8 pm, featuring free tacos, queso, beer samples and more.

Promising “Damn Good Tacos,” Torchy’s is a Texas favorite that exploded in popularity when it first opened as a food trailer in Austin. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients to make their creative tacos from scratch, dishing up dozens of variations for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Favorites include tacos such as the Trailer Park (made with fried chicken and chiles), the Baja Shrimp, and the Crossroads made with smoked beef brisket, grilled onions, jalapeños, cilantro, avocado, and jack cheese with tomatillo sauce on a corn tortilla. There are also salmon tacos, avocado tacos, and Beyond Beef tacos.

Torchy’s is particularly celebrated for its breakfast tacos, with basics such as the bacon, egg and cheese, as well as the more adventurous, like the Migas with eggs, tortilla strips, green chiles, avocado, pico and cheese. The Wrangler is a favorite with eggs, potatoes, smoked beef brisket, cheese and a tomatillo sauce.

Additionally, Torchy’s serves up the always-popular chips and queso, a handful of sides and desserts, and a full bar with fresh squeezed margaritas, sangria, and beer on draft and in cans. There are also salad and burrito options, as well as a kids menu.

The Torchy’s Community Party is a tradition for the taco company, taking place on Monday, January 30, from 5-8 pm. The celebration, open to the public, includes a vendor market, giveaways, a live DJ and live band, and outdoor games. And of course, guests get the opportunity to try out the tacos and have a drink.
