The historic St. Pete Shuffleboard club is one of the most iconic spots in the entire Tampa Bay region. Organizers behind the club recently shared some exciting photos of glowing courts at night. Think galaxy bowling with a Florida twist. The creation of these visually stunning courts was a labor of love. They’re impermanent of course, but will continue to pop up for special events. This past weekend’s test was a remarkable, and photogenic success.
“Josh from Allen Shuffleboard has wanted to try it for awhile, and then Doug Dozark from Cycle Brewing decided we needed to try it before the time change,” said St. Pete Shuffle Executive Director Christina Page. “Doug and the Cycle Brewing team spent hours painting the lines..and Josh painted discs and put reflective tape around the cues.”

St. Pete Shuffle dazzles with new glow paint
The effect is remarkable. Shuffleboard is a historic game, but the illuminant paint gives it some new vigor and flair. Page notes that the lines on the court are just chalk and corn starch, so it is very temporary. You can follow St. Pete Shuffle on Facebook and Instagram to see when they might do glow shuffle again.
St. Pete Shuffle first opened in 1924 (that’s right, it’s 99 going on 100), which makes it the oldest active shuffleboard club in the country. In October of this year the International Shuffleboard Association will host 40th World Championship in the Sunshine City.
