Every Saturday and Sunday from 11am–5pm during May, Chef Jason Macon and his wife Nicole will be whipping up southern brunch on the porch of the Peninsula Bed & Cocktail, located at 2937 Beach Blvd S, Gulfport, FL.
Raised between the Bible and the BBQ, Jason grew up on slow-cooking, secret marinades, rubs, spices, slaws, smoked meats, and everything in between.

The curated menu features soul-food staples such as pork tacos cooked low and slow for 8 hours and served with homemade pickled slaw and Jason’s secret BBQ sauce. There’s Cajun-style shrimp and grits with smoked andouille sausage, a mouthwatering fried chicken sandwich, and much more to relish as slowly and carefully as the food was cooked.

As Jason says, “When you grow up in a world where you might start the cooking on Friday and the eating is on Sunday, you learn a thing or two. Southern food takes time. Some time to cook and some time to enjoy.”
At previous pop-ups, customers have complimented Jason’s soul food, saying “this tastes like it was cooked with love.” And it is. Love is even listed as an ingredient in “The Queen”: three whole chicken wings made with 10-spice batter, and sweet potato crumble served with homemade mac-n-cheese.
