Peruvian cuisine has started to gain more of a following locally, and now the flavorful fare has an entirely new concept in St. Pete. Sabor S Peru quietly made its debut at 1572 Central Avenue this month, the newest spot to take up residence inside the Edge Eatery.

Sabor S Peru has a wide range of traditional Peruvian dishes, many with their own flavorful twists. The menu consists of a wide range of sandwiches and empanadas (we’re already eyeing the chicharron sandwich and the chicken yellow chili pepper empanada), and a long list of house specials such as Florida Gulf grouper ceviche, olive octopus, shrimp cocktails, and tuna carpaccio.

The food stall also serves up a variety of sides, including fried yucca, roasted corn, and a Peruvian-style Russian salad. To drink, there are a variety of fruit juices and smoothies, traditional purple corn chicha, Peruvian beer and soda, emoliente, and other options.

A tip of the cap goes to St. Pete Supper Club member Ryan Zarra, who mentioned Sabor S Peru’s opening in a post, calling it an “absolute gem,” and “the best Peruvian in the area so far.” We haven’t yet been by to try it ourselves, but we’ll be in soon with a recommendation like that.
