Preview Of Engine No9’s New Restaurant, The Engine Eatery

New openings and expansions of the Burg's favorite dining spots have invigorated the Fall season. For the burger lovers out there the expansion of Engine No9 is something to salivate about.

We were lucky enough to have a chat with Jason Esposito, owner of Engine No9, at their new, soon-to-open location. We found out why they're expanding and what the city can expect from their larger spot on Central Avenue.

"The main reason we're expanding is because we're limited to indoor seating at the original spot." says Esposito. "We're making a restaurant with seasonal seating. The intersection our restaurant is at now is too dangerous and cramped to put any tables outside." Esposito and his crew at Engine No9 are looking to include the Burg amenities many residents seek when going out.

The new Engine No9 location will be dog-friendly, with ample outdoor seating. The front of the restaurant will feature a 30-foot long lounge couch with WiFi access and fire pits.  "We want to create an environment where people can come and relax."

Jason has ideas to screen movies outside the restaurant on a weekly basis once open. Esposito also said that residents can expect pig roasts and crawfish broils once the new Engine No9 is up and running.

Engine No9 plans to dish out a lot of take-out at their new spot. The railings that run parallel to the airstream will have barstools and small table areas. A retractable awning will cover some of the outdoor seating area to  provide a "secluded haven" for diners looking for a more private experience.

What can we expect from the menu? Esposito promises the new location will offer few of their signature burgers but the rest will be experimental. "Our first Engine No9 spot is a machine. Because of the space there isn't much room for experimentation with the menu."

"At our new location, we're going to play with a lot of ingredients and offer a variety of burger and entree choices people have never tried before" says Esposito. "The experience of expanding has been incredible because of the community surrounding us." Esposito notes the Kenwood Association and Casita Taqueria among others who have been supportive during the opening process.

Esposito hopes to open the new location within the first couple of weeks of November. "If all goes to plan we could be open as early as November 10" remarked Esposito. The name of their new location? The Engine Eatery. Engine No9 is located at 56 Dr MLK Jr St N., the Engine Eatery is located at 2901 Central Ave.
