Pickleball is the sport sensation seemingly sweeping the nation, and now the popular game is set to get a sparkling new facility in Pinellas Park. The Pickleball Club announced today that its next expansion will include a massive facility in the Gateway Centre Business Park.

Located just off Gandy and US HWY 19, The Pickleball Club is under contract on an 8.07-acre parcel for $1.75 million. Sprawling 40,000 square feet, the climate-controlled facility will offer members 16 indoor pickleball courts, as well as an outside activity area. Additional amenities include a players’ lounge mezzanine, Dink’s Pro Shop, and Pickle’s Café, a casual restaurant concept similar to their other facilities.

The Pickleball Club, a firm founded in 2019 that develops and operates private membership-based high-amenity indoor pickleball facilities throughout Florida, says it expects to close on the purchase of the property by the end of the year, with a projected opening date of early 2025. This will mark the group’s seventh location, which includes a Sarasota location that opens this month.

“Our goal is to be the leading social club focused on pickleball in Florida, followed by an expansion throughout America,” said Brian McCarthy, founder and CEO of The Pickleball Club. “Our concept will give members an upscale country club atmosphere to play and socialize year-round, no matter what the weather is like outside. The team has worked for years to make our vision a reality. Everyone is overflowing with excitement to start our next chapter with the opening of first club in Lakewood Ranch next week.”

And of course, this isn’t the only pickleball project coming to Pinellas County. St. Pete Athletic, an indoor/outdoor pickleball facility with a restaurant and bar, is slated to open later this year in the EDGE District of St. Pete.
