There a slew of mainstays in the Pinellas County dining scene, but one restaurant stands out amongst the rest, at least according to OpenTable diners. That restaurant is Guppy’s on Indian Rocks Beach. The seafood bastion is consistently booked through the dining app, receives high marks from most diners who eat there and offers an approachable menu with reasonable prices. In short, it checks all the boxes.
Guppy’s offers immaculate sunset views to accompany its savory seafood fare. The casual outdoor dining spot is a sought after date night spot, and while it certainly is a draw for tourists and snowbirds, it is equally beloved by the local crowd.

Stellar small plats and sunset views
Visitors rave about the crispy and tender calamari with tomato salsa roja and a Meyer lemon basil aioli. The Angels on Horseback is also a shareable favorite. The appetizer features oysters topped with applewood smoked bacon, and are broiled with a burgundy herb and garlic butter.
You can’t go wrong with shrimp and grits either. Reviewers recommend the large Cajun shrimp over creamy jalapeno Asiago grits, andouille sausage and brandy mustard sauce.
The potato crusted salmon and local Gulf grouper picatta are oft ordered delicacies, too. Of course, Guppy’s proximity to the beach and Gulf views play a vital role in the overall restaurant experience.
Excellent service brings diners back
Service and atmosphere played pivotal roles in its ranking as the best overall restaurant in the area. Go there with a hearty appetite, because the portions here are generous to say the least.
There’s also a spicy black bean burger on the menu for vegetarians and a legendary grouper sandwich for the lunch crowd.
Many have praised Guppy’s . Key Lime Pie, which the restaurant says is better than any you might have in the Keys. It’s a bold statement, but so far customers have agreed with the proclamation. You should also dip a spoon into Guppy’s gourmet cinnamon ice cream.
