It’s kind of fitting how quietly this new cafe opened. Surrounded by the traffic and energy of downtown St. Pete, Forest Vibe is a serene oasis among the noise. Dubbing itself a “Magical Cafe,” Forest Vibe just opened in May at 449 Central Avenue, creating a small pocket of forest tranquility in the shadow of 400 Central.
The cozy new spot has three full cases of fresh pastries and sweets made in-house, from croissants, sweet buns, and poppyseed rolls to macarons, cakes, chocolates, creme brulee and more. The full menu offers a wide range of more filling options, including croissant sandwiches, a breakfast plate, and fresh crepes of both the sweet and savory variety.

Forest Vibe also serves espresso-based coffee drinks, with double espresso (only $3.25) and an Americano for those who enjoy the bitter bean taste (raises hand), or sweeter options like a turtle mocha or the affogato for those who enjoy a little sugar in their caffeine. They also offer matcha, chai, and loose leaf tea, as well as a variety of refreshers.
I had my first visit yesterday on a walk around downtown, and I nearly felt like a cartoon character who is lifted off the ground and floats in based on the great smell. It was enticing enough that I even asked what specifically was being baked, in the hopes that it would be ready soon. It turns out, that’s just how Forest Vibe always smells.
I had just eaten, so I didn’t go for a full crepe or sandwich. However, the aroma prevented me from walking out empty-handed, and the chocolate croissant that I ordered to-go was finished within six steps of the exit. I will very soon be back to try more.
