St. Pete’s newest public park opens this weekend in Warehouse Arts District

St. Pete’s newest public park opens this weekend in Warehouse Arts District

The City of St. Petersburg has earned national recognition for its park system, and this weekend, the lineup of incredible public parks grows by one. District Park has its official ribbon cutting this Saturday, November 11 at 4:30 pm, located at 2165 5th Avenue South.

The triangle-shaped swath of land opens up into the corridor between the Pinellas Trail and 5th Avenue South, bringing a beautiful green space to one of the city’s burgeoning neighborhoods – the Warehouse Arts District. The new park comes complete with a statue and mural, as well as a covered events space on the east end of the property.

The location of District Park puts it perfectly in line with so many St. Pete favorites. Not only is it an easy stopping point alongside the Pinellas Trail for a rest, sip of water, or even a picnic, but it’s also in the literal backyard of Lolita’s Wine Market inside the Historic Seaboard Train Station.

Its central location in the Warehouse Arts District puts it across the street from the new ArtsXchange Theater, and within a block or two of local favorites like 3 Daughters Brewing, Urban Stillhouse, The Chelsea, and Bayboro Brewing. Plus, with plenty of shade and lots of parking nearby, it’s a great spot to relax or host an event. In fact, Take MAR recently planted new trees in the same area along the Pinellas Trail, ensuring a green canopy for decades to come.

District Park is the second new park to make its debut along 22nd Street South this year, and it’s no coincidence. Guided by the community leadership of Deuces Live and the Warehouse Arts District Business Associations, the two new city parks are part of the Warehouse Arts District Deuces Live Action Plan. The construction of District Park & Deuces Park, two public plazas, provide new public spaces for businesses and organizations to host events, festivals, and community gatherings. Deuces Park, located at 22nd St. and 9th Ave. S opened in February 2023.
