One of St. Pete’s most beloved small-batch ice cream brands, Churned Ice Cream, just made a big move. Churned Ice Cream, known for its creative popsicles and handcrafted scoops at popular markets like Localtopia, The Kenwood Market, and Halloween on Central, has officially opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in the county.
Located at 5504 Haines Road N., the new retail space quietly debuted this week with a “soft launch,” offering pre-packaged treats Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The announcement came via Instagram, inviting locals to “pick up something cool” for their freezers.

Churned goes from a VW Bus to a full ice cream shop
Churned got its start out of a retro VW bus thanks to founders Ray and Alyssa Wyatt, and quickly became a fan favorite across St. Pete for its nostalgic flavors and community-first approach. The business has since grown under new ownership but remains true to its roots—crafting ice cream and popsicles in small batches using minimal ingredients and zero artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
In 2024, new managing operator Steve Tishman came on board to help further grow Churned Ice Cream.
In addition to treating customers, Churned also gives back. The company donates 10 percent of profits from regular ice cream sales to Pet Pal Animal Shelter, helping support rescue animals in the local area. That mission is just one more reason the community has embraced this growing ice cream brand.
Some of the best ice cream flavors in Tampa Bay
Flavors rotate regularly and have included everything from tiramisu and coffee cake to Lucky Charms, Cubano and fresh strawberry. For those planning a visit, the full menu of ice cream and popsicle options is available online at getchurned.com/flavors.
For now, the storefront is grab-and-go only, offering pre-packed pints. But with the success of this initial launch, fans can expect even more sweet updates to come.
