Canopy Oaks, a new community of homes on MLK, begins construction

Canopy Oaks, a new community of homes on MLK, begins construction

Rendering of new homes along MLK

A new community of homes is coming to the MLK corridor, as construction has officially begun on nine new residences in the Euclid St. Paul neighborhood. St. Petersburg-based Backstreets Capital and Canopy Builders announced last month that construction is now underway on Canopy Oaks, a new residential community in Euclid St. Paul.

The collection of homes will feature six luxury townhomes, two villas, and a single-family residence. Canopy Oaks is located at 1920 Dr. MLK Jr. St. North, along the growing and bustling MLK corridor. Developers say the new builds will be designed to maintain the charm and aesthetics of the neighborhood, while also meeting the needs of local homeowners. The project is expected to be completed by late 2023.

The six townhomes, roughly 2,500 square feet each, will all be three bedroom, three and half bathroom residences, complete with two-car attached garages, covered entries, and private balconies. Developers say the homes will feature 10’ ceilings through the main living level, engineered hardwood flooring, and high-end finishes and appliances. The first one was just listed yesterday for $959,035 – interested and prospective buyers can fill out the form below for more information.

The two villas, approximately 2,200 square feet each, will be three bedroom, two and a half bathroom, two-story homes that include two-car garages and private covered lanais with outdoor kitchen upgrades. The villas also feature 10’ ceilings through the main living level, hurricane impact windows and doors, engineered hardwood flooring, and high-end finishes and appliances.

The single-family home will have four bedrooms and three bathrooms, along with a study and upstairs loft. The house will have a Craftsman style design, chosen to fit in with the craft and legacy of the Euclid St. Paul Neighborhood.

“We are thrilled to bring this project to life and believe this type of development is exemplary of how to integrate new homes into established neighborhoods.” Canopy Builders President and CEO Ben Gelston said. “The MLK corridor offers so much for residents living in the area with an abundance of restaurants, shops and services within walking distance – and it’s so close to downtown.”
