With eight nods for the Oscars including best actor for Hugh Jackman, supporting actress for Anne Hathaway who both won the Golden Globes, the film is a big contender for best picture as well. The musical drama set in 19th-century France, also stars other noteworthy Hollywood actors as Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter and Sasha Baron Cohen.

Critics on RottenTomatoes.com give it an above average rating of 70% on their Tomatometer.

Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole.
