Small Bar St. Pete will expand, become Spitz Wine Bar by the end of the year

Currently located in the back of Bandit Coffee (2662 Central Ave) Small Bar offers an intimate drinking and eating experience. Run by Josh Weaver (co-owner of Bandit Coffee) and Seth Davis, resident sommelier, Small Bar has three small tables and a squat bar, but feels expansive because of the excellent customer service.

Make a reservation at Small Bar here. Reservations are currently available on Fridays and Saturdays from August 2-31.

While Small Bar currently functions as a pop-up concept, Josh and Seth are using it to pilot a larger vision: Spitz Wine Bar. Spitz Wine Bar will tentatively open toward the end of the year.

When Spitz opens, the wall dividing what’s now Small Bar and Bandit Coffee will be knocked down, and the interior space will swell to 2,000 square feet. The outside space will be redone as well, amounting to 1,000 square feet outside. Josh anticipates a 115-customer capacity.

Spitz wine bar will be approachable, interactive, and educational

Many of the stellar menu items offered at Small Bar will transfer to Spitz, such as the “Spam Fries”. These salty, delectable things started as a joke between one chef and another, Josh informs me, but everyone loved them so they became part of the menu. There’s nothing quite like pairing Spam Fries (available on Sunday only) with your Chardonnay, I must say.

Co-owner Seth says “[Spitz Wine Bar will] encourage customers to taste whatever they want.” A way to palate new wine profiles without defaulting to your usual preferences. “We want [Spitz Wine Bar] to be approachable, interactive, and educational,” says Seth.

We at I Love The Burg are eagerly awaiting the wall to come down inside Small Bar, revealing the long-awaited debut of Spitz Wine Bar. Check out their Instagram here.
