Trevor Burgess, a prominent St. Petersburg entrepreneur, philanthropist and investor, has joined the ownership group of the Florida Smash, one of Major League Pickleball’s (MLP) top teams. His company, Neptune Flood Insurance, will serve as the official title sponsor of the team, further strengthening the Florida Smash’s ties to the local community.

Burgess is partnering with Reuben Pressman, CEO of St. Pete Athletic Club, and his business partner Jonathan Carlon in this new venture. Florida Smash will continue to call St. Petersburg home, a city with a thriving pickleball scene and one of the highest ratios of courts to citizens in the U.S.

“Pickleball is more than just a sport; it’s a movement that has captured the heart of St. Petersburg, Florida, and the nation,” Burgess said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be part of the Florida Smash and to support its growth in St. Pete.”

Florida Smash’s home base aligns with the newly announced St. Pete Athletic Paddle and Social Club, a state-of-the-art facility with 14 pickleball courts located at The Factory St. Pete. As I Love the Burg reported in July, this club will offer both sports and social experiences, further cementing St. Petersburg as a hub for pickleball enthusiasts. Florida Smash is one of 22 teams in Major League Pickleball, a coed league featuring nearly 100 top athletes.
