It has been a tumultuous year for the Rays and the city of St. Pete. The Rays have been actively seeking new spots for a field due to poor attendance at a majority of their home games. Officials and diehard Rays fans in St. Pete have been campaigning to keep the team in our city. This week, Pinellas County officials revealed 10 potential sites the MLB team could relocate to in the Pinellas area. The spots are:
Tropicana Field
Derby Lane
Cheezum Property
Sunshine Speedway
Glassbrenner Property
Airco
Orange Blossom Groves/Norris
Clearwater Cay
Kenyon Dodge Dealership
Oldsmar Race Track Road

These spots were selected based on criteria already presented by the Rays which include: catalyst for development, local authenticity, regional connectivity, site accessibility, size and financial feasibility/development readiness. Most important to the team include ease of access and employment densities in the immediate stadium area.
With the hopes of keeping the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, the city launched began the Baseball Forever Campaign. This initative was started by the City of St. Pete, St. Pete Chamber of Commerce and residents.
